Break Details
Surfside Beach Pier is an exposed beach and pier break in Surfside Beach — known as "The Family Beach" on the Grand Strand. The freshly rebuilt 814-foot pier stretches into the Atlantic and creates wave structure on both sides during good swells. Like most of the Grand Strand, the break only works when conditions are just right, with the best surf from southeast swells and northwest offshore winds. Mid rising tide is typically the sweet spot for the best shape. December historically produces the most consistent clean surf here. The mellow, family-friendly atmosphere and wide sandy beach make this a great spot for all skill levels.
Best conditions: Southeast swell, northwest offshore winds, mid to rising tide, fall and winter — December most consistent
