Break Details
Myrtle Beach Skywheel / 2nd Ave is part of the central Myrtle Beach beachbreak zone, located at the southern end of the iconic 1.2-mile Boardwalk beneath the 196-foot SkyWheel observation wheel. Like most of Myrtle Beach, this is a hit-or-miss sandy beachbreak that performs best on southeast swells with clean northwest offshore winds. The 2nd Avenue Pier provides some wave structure nearby, making this one of the more recognizable stretches of surf along the Boardwalk. Fun scattered peaks are possible for all skill levels when conditions align, with mid to high tide offering the best shape. Note that surfing may be restricted in parts of the Boardwalk area during summer peak hours.
Best conditions: Southeast swell, northwest offshore winds, mid to high tide, morning sessions, fall and winter
